Nicole holds a Masters of Science degree in Assistive Technology Studies and Human Services from California State University Northridge, as well as a Bachelors of Arts degree in Communication Disorders from Southern Connecticut State University. She holds a Graduate Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders from the University of St Joseph and is pursuing her Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification. In addition to her degrees, Nicole has participated in continuing education in the areas of feeding, oral motor dysfunction, and is trained in the Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol for children diagnosed with apraxia of speech. She has added education in specific assistive technology applications such as LAMP and TouchChat and continues to expand her networking with various representatives in the areas of AT/AAC. Nicole has several years of experience working with children and adults with autism spectrum, receptive and expressive language disorders, cognitive and neurological disorders, motor speech disorders and oral motor and feeding impairments. At Speakology, Nicole is a master of implementing therapy programs, working collaboratively with other professionals and family members and developing the most creative and innovative therapy activities incorporating visuals and augmentative communication. She has brought her unique blend of functional, behavioral, augmentative and “hands on” speech therapy supports to individuals in private clinics, homes and school systems. Nicole thrives on learning new and creative ways to increase the communication skills of others. Whether it is a simple low tech communication or color coding system or a high tech speech generating device, Nicole believes everyone deserves a voice and a chance to engage in all settings.
When she’s not at work Nicole enjoys designing, crafting, tutoring and spending time with her children and family.
