Joanna received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2009 from Southern Connecticut State University, with a concentration in Communication Disorders. She continued her education in 2013 to fulfill her master’s degree in education through Arizona State University. In 2015, Joanna sat for her Behavior Analysis exam and soon after received her certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
Joanna’s love for the field of special education has kept her well versed in both speech and language, as well as behavior analysis throughout her professional career. Joanna has worked in both the public and private school settings with students of all ages and varying abilities. Joanna has worked closely with families in the home setting and loves being able to connect and assist her families to make meaningful, functional gains. Joanna has worked as both a Speech and Language Pathology Assistant as well as a Behavior Analyst in educational settings. Her experience includes working with children diagnosed with Apraxia, language, and articulation disorders, feeding disorders and programming/implementing augmentative and alternative communication devices. Joanna continues to further her knowledge in a plethora of coursework focusing on the ASD community, behavior analysis and efficient instruction which aim to service a variety of our clients needs.
When not at Speakology, Joanna enjoys being with her children, spending time outdoors walking, hiking, and being in the sun!
Joanna and my daughter have a special bond and Joanna sees and believes in the full potential of my child. Joanna is so dedicated to helping my child now but also to setting her up for success in the future.
Joanna is extremely adaptable and resourceful. My daughter periodically challenges her during sessions and Joanna always rises to the occasion by making the sessions meaningful and memorable while also ensuring that they’re fun. Joanna has definitely made a lasting impact on my daughter and our family and we recommend her highly to any family in need of a phenomenal SLP.
